PRACTICE AS PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP

presented by the JERSEY CITY ARTS COUNCIL

Acclaimed director and teacher Vince DeGeorge will lead a two hour workshop in which performers will explore the overlapping nature of artistic practice and live performance. The work will be both intellectual and experiential. Please come prepared to reflect on your own personal artistic practice as well as dressed to move.

Vince DeGeorge is a director, choreographer, theatrical researcher, and philosopher. He is most interested in the exploration of the experiential aspects of live performance. To this end he has developed The Theatrical Awareness Practice (TTAP), a somatic and experiential practice used to train artists and create live performance. This practice consists of deeply researched and highly structured improvisational explorations that are designed to reacquaint the artist with the infinite intelligence and creative capacity of their own human body. He has successfully used TTAP to train live performers, both nationally and internationally, working in a wide range of performance forms and styles including: Drama, Dance, Experimental Theater, Performance Art, Musical Theater, & Opera. He is The Joseph Weinberger Chair of Acting for the Lyric Stage at The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
